In Member Viewer under the HEDIS Tests and Pharmacy tabs, find information about your patient’s high-risk medication use and medication adherence rates. Monitoring safety and measuring adherence to a medication regimen is a high-priority first step toward better health outcomes in patients.
CMS has included high-risk medications and medication adherence for three drug classes—oral diabetes medications, statins and RAS antagonists—in its display measures and star ratings program, respectively, as quality measures for the management of patients.
To help improve overall performance on CMS quality measures, medication use information is available in Member Viewer to help you determine if your patients are taking medications as prescribed and to help you monitor associated issues. The information is presented in an easy-to-read chart listing the medication name, adherence percentage and a description of the medication. To meet the CMS quality measures related to medication adherence, your patients should fill their prescriptions to cover 80% of the days between their first fill and the end of the year.
