Medicare Part A and Part B Premiums and Part A Deductible

Beneficiaries usually do not pay a Medicare Part A premium if they paid Medicare employment taxes. Part A covers hospital services, including semiprivate rooms, meals, general nursing, drugs as part of inpatient treatment, and other hospital services and supplies. Beneficiaries receiving Original Medicare, as well as some Peoples Health plan members, must pay a Part A deductible for inpatient hospital services.

Most beneficiaries must pay a standard premium amount for Medicare Part B services, which include medically necessary services and supplies, as well as preventive services. Those with a gross annual income above a certain amount may pay more.

If you have Peoples Health patients who you believe may be eligible for Extra Help or a Medicare Savings Program, please refer them to the Peoples Health member services department, which can help confirm eligibility and discuss available options.
